Riteish Deshmukh: I am exhausted doing comedies & sequels

The audience, perhaps, is not tired of watching Riteish Deshmukh in comic zone but the actor certainly is bored-to-death repeating the same stuff. Riteish, who’s done back-to-back comedies and who is associated with as good as four sequels – DOUBLE DHAMAAL (DHAMAAL sequel), HOUSEFULL 2 (HOUSEFULL sequel), KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM (KYAA KOOL HAIN HUM sequel), GRAND MASTI (MASTI sequel), feels exhausted with comedies, especially sequels.

“I feel exhausted doing comedies now. The last four films that I have done are sequels to earlier parts. So in all these films I am repeating my character. Apart from my experience of being part of earlier films and newness to the scenes, there is nothing dramatic that I am doing in these films. Hence there was a need to do a film like TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA (which was hit), a film like RANN, ALADIN (which unfortunately didn’t work),” says the actor.

Riteish further expresses, “Enough of sequels and comedies! Now I can’t stand them anymore. GRAND MASTI is the only film (comedy) that I am working on right now. I want to try new things, get into newer zones.”

In fact he has already started working on projects which belong to different genres. He is now eyeing urban crime thrillers

“From next year i.e. from January 2013 onwards I’ll be seen doing something different. I have zeroed down two scripts, urban crime thrillers and another drama. So there is a shift of genre in the kind of films I am doing,” says the 33-year old actor, who’ll complete a decade in the industry by next year

Having said that, Riteish also maintains that he’s not bidding a goodbye to the popular genre. If required he may do a comedy in future.

“Having said that I am not saying I will stop comedies,” says Riteish on a concluding note.
