The Internship’: ‘Book of Mormon’ Star Josh Gad Lands Another Big Film Role

There was a time, not too long ago, when you might have referred toJosh Gad as the guy who voiced “Bandana Dog” in the Marmadukemovie. But these past two years have been kind to the young actor — and a lot of it can be attributed to his triumphant turn in the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon. The latest addition to Gad’s swelling résumé: The Internship, a comic reteaming of Wedding Crashersstars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, who play two fortysomething career men forced to start their professional lives over at the bottom rung (the dreaded internship) in light of all the changes their realm of business has undergone over the years.

Deadline reports that Gad is joining the cast as a young, socially inept (but probably technologically ingenious) engineer at Vaughn’s and Wilson’s firm. His character is being billed as Headphones.

The Internship is the latest addition to Gad’s list of film projects on the horizon. Among them: the Ashton Kutcher-led Steve Jobs biopic Jobs (in which Gad plays Apple co-founder/engineer Steve Wozniak) the TIFF dramedy Thanks for Sharing (in which he plays a sex addict), the Dreamworks Animation movie Me and My Shadow (in which he plays a man who has an unusual friendship with his sentient shadow), not to mention all the talk about a The Book of Mormon screen adaptation. On top of this, Gad is writing/starring in a new White House-set NBC comedy 1600 Penn, and will be making a guest appearance on the second season of New Girl. I know you thought he was already on New Girl once, but that was Clark Duke. Different dudes
