Though the plotline doesn't completely resemble it, you can't help but draw parallels with KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI in the first hour and D.D.L.J. and to an extent, KYA KEHNA! in the post-interval portions. Unfortunately, the writing, the execution of the written material and also the acting of some of the actors is way below the mark. Resultantly, despite the right intentions of making a 'young film', Prateek's endeavor doesn't achieve the desired results. FROM SYDNEY WITH LOVE seems like a showreel created for Prateek Chakravorty to exhibit his numerous talents. On the whole, FROM SYDNEY WITH LOVE is an amateurish attempt.

Now here is a movie that gives away way too much in its title: You know it's a love story. You know it's bound to be shot in Sydney. And on those two fronts you are not really disappointed. After all, Sydney does not really need a strong plot to look all that rocking. And if it's love (and a story around it) that we're talking about, who needs intellectual stuff. But then that does not mean you can just walk away with anything in mind.Hard to digest -- even with those great Aussie shots, gaana shaana, typical Indianisms, a couple of not-so-bad jokes -- considering the cast is all young. Sure we can do better next time

Chakravorty's intentions hover in every frame. He wants his audience to have fun at this "famcom" (family comedy). And so we're subjected to farts, butt cracks, an extremely pointless rugby game and most of all, wait for it, an entire first half. The second half could easily be a film in itself, no trace of the fun they had in Sydney.Plot hole after plot hole makes its presence felt and after a point you give up. Chakravorty loses the plot every now and then. May be Sydney was too overwhelming. Let's wait and watch what he's capable of churning out of Pramod Films in years to come. For now, waiting for the television premiere of From Sydney With Love won't be much of a loss.
