    19th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards: 12 Years a Slave, Alfonso Cuaron, Matthew McConaughey, Cate Blanchett biggest winners

    It was a starry evening on January 16 when the much-awaited 19th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards were announced. As expected 12 Years a Slave got away with the best picture award while its Lupita Nyong'o also bagged the best supporting actress prize. Matthew McConaughey and Cate Blanchett won best actor and best actress for their roles in Dallas Buyers Club and Blue Jasmine respectively.

    Alfonso Cuaron won the best director award for Gravity which bagged six more including best actress in an action movie (Sandra Bullock), best cinematography, best editing, best visual effects, best sci-fi/horror movie and best score. Among the special awards, Forest Whitaker was honoured with the Joel Siegel Award, Julie Delpy, Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater won the Louis XIII Genius Award and Benedict Cumberbatch was obviously the most deserving winner of the Hottest Hollywood Star trophy. The ceremony was hosted by Aisha Tyler.

    • Best Cinematography: Emmanuel Lubezki – Gravity
    • Best Art Direction: Catherine Martin (Production Designer), Beverley Dunn (Set Decorator) – The Great Gatsby
    • Best Editing: Alfonso Cuaron, Mark Sanger – Gravity
    • Best Costume Design: Catherine Martin – The Great Gatsby
    • Best Make-up: American Hustle
    • Best Visual Effects: Gravity
    • Best Animated Feature: Frozen
    • Best Action Movie: Lone Survivor
    • Best Actor in an Action Movie: Mark Wahlberg – Lone Survivor
    • Best Actress in an Action Movie: Sandra Bullock – Gravity
